A great hotel room should be easy to enjoy. Adjust the lighting. Get comfortable. Reach the hotel team. Discover something worth booking. The technology behind those moments should feel natural.
Apple’s new HomeView brings another possibility into that conversation. At OneAvant, our GMS integration with Home Assistant provides a route for assessing how supported room controls could work alongside Apple’s new display.
For hotels considering a connected-room upgrade, the opportunity is to bring carefully selected hardware into an experience already designed around the guest.
Meet Apple HomeView
Apple announced HomeView on 13 October 2026. It combines a 7-inch display, entertainment, communication and smart-home control in tabletop and wall-mounted models. Pre-orders have opened in selected markets, with availability beginning 13 November. Apple launch details
Its touchscreen, microphones and built-in speakers make it an interesting candidate for an accessible room-control touchpoint. A hotel deployment still needs assessment of installation, guest access and operational requirements. Technical specifications
Why it matters for hotel rooms
Guests should not need to learn a collection of unfamiliar controls just to settle in. A visible, well-positioned interface can make the room’s available features easier to find and use.
For a compatible installation, the room-control experience could include:
Lighting: adjust brightness and supported lighting settings.
Climate: change supported heating and cooling controls.
Curtains and blinds: operate compatible motorised coverings.
Room access: surface supported lock functions where hotel permissions allow.
Home Assistant documents these accessory categories in its HomeKit Bridge integration. The exact controls depend on the devices and configuration. Supported controls
The hotel benefit is practical: a room that feels easier to use, with technology selected around the guest journey. Energy-conscious settings and automation can also be considered as part of the wider room design, with results measured at the property.
How OneAvant GMS fits through Home Assistant
OneAvant GMS integrates with Home Assistant to connect the guest experience with the smart-room layer.
Home Assistant’s HomeKit Bridge can expose supported devices to Apple Home. That provides a documented integration route to assess for HomeView, whose announced smart-home support includes compatible Apple Home accessories. End-to-end HomeView operation must be validated for the selected hotel setup. HomeKit Bridge documentation HomeView accessory support
A connected room is part of a connected stay
GMS adds the hospitality services around the room: pre-check-in, preferences, guest communication, food ordering, service requests, guidebooks and relevant upsells. Guests use the hotel’s branded mobile experience and optional in-room tablet, while staff receive and handle the resulting interactions. Explore OneAvant GMS
For example, a guest can choose an available extra before arrival, adjust compatible room settings during the stay, order a meal through GMS and arrange an activity with the hotel team.
HomeView is being considered as an additional room-control interface within that wider experience. Native GMS installation on HomeView, Siri-based food ordering and GMS concierge calling through HomeView are not confirmed by this integration route.
Designed for your property
OneAvant can help assess your existing room equipment, select the controls you want to offer and plan a representative-room pilot. The aim is a setup that your guests can understand and your team can operate consistently.
The assessment should cover room-specific access, network configuration, account management and the changeover between guests. These are especially important when adapting a product introduced for household use to hotel operations.
Buying Apple HomeView for a hotel
Hotels in eligible markets can enquire with OneAvant about product suitability and sourcing. We can help assess the GMS integration route and connect you with relevant distributors or resellers, subject to local availability.
Apple states that HomeView is not currently available for sale in the European Union. Hotels in Malta and other EU countries should therefore enquire about assessment and future availability, rather than assume an immediate local purchase or rollout. Regional availability
